Dual antiplatelet therapy pretreatment in IV thrombolysis for acute ischemic stroke
Neurology Sep 14, 2018
Tsivgoulis G, et al. - In this prospective multicenter study, researchers tested the safety and effectiveness of IV thrombolysis (IVT) in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with a history of dual antiplatelet therapy pretreatment (DAPP). Before and after propensity score matching, outcomes between DAPP+ and DAPP− IVT-treated patients were assessed. Findings suggested no link between DAPP and higher rates of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage and 3-month mortality after IVT. In AIS candidates who are otherwise eligible, DAPP ought not be used as a reason to withhold IVT.
