Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment Jul 25, 2021

Haeny AM, Oluwoye O, Cruz R, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate if disparities remain for DSM-5 lifetime alcohol use disorder and drug use disorder treatment utilization and barriers across Black, American Indian/Alaska Native, Latine, Asian/Pacific Islander/Native Hawaiian, and White adults. This study performed secondary analyses on data from the National Epidemiological Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions. Regression analyses, followed by pairwise comparisons, evaluated variations across racial/ethnic groups. According to the findings, differences remain across racial/ethnic groups in drug and alcohol treatment utilization and barriers to treatment. Further study intended at elevating treatment utilization across racial/ethnic groups should focus on social determinants of health.
