Does the type of shoulder brace affect postoperative pain and clinical outcome after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair?
Arthroscopy Apr 08, 2019
Ghandour TM, et al. - In patients immobilized with an abduction brace vs patients placed in an antirotation brace, researchers compared postoperative pain and clinical outcome following arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. For this investigation, they involved 120 patients with symptomatic degenerative complete tear of the supraspinatus or infraspinatus tendons. History of trauma/traumatic tears, concomitant shoulder pathology, psychological illnesses, and previous shoulder surgery were exclusion criteria. In patient-oriented outcome measures or postoperative pain after rotator cuff repair, no significant difference was found between abduction brace and antirotation sling.
