Does patella alta lead to worse clinical outcome in patients who undergo isolated medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction? A systematic review
Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery Jun 19, 2018
Bartsch A, et al. - Authors ascertained the impact of patella height on clinical outcomes after isolated medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction for patella instability. They presumed that patients with patella alta report similar outcomes after isolated MPFL reconstruction vs patients with normal patella height. Satisfactory outcomes were noted in both patients with patella alta and normal patella height after isolated medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction. As per data, in patients with mild patella alta (Caton–Deschamps Index 1.2–1.4), it is not necessary to perform additional tibial tubercle distalisation.
