Distal femoral reconstruction following failed total knee arthroplasty is accompanied with risk for complication and reduced joint function
BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders Feb 06, 2019
Vertesich K, et al. - In this retrospective study, researchers analyzed 30 consecutive cases (mean age-74.38 years) after distal femoral reconstruction (DFR) from 1997 to 2017 to estimate the clinical outcome and the complication rates of DFR plus modular megaprostheses and also to examine the potential loss of function after such treatment. They observed DFR after failed TKA, a treatment procedure with a high prevalence for complications like Soft-tissue failure complications, aseptic loosening, structural failure, infection, and severe pain.
