Urology Nov 21, 2021
Ringel NE, Brown O, Moore KJ, et al. - From a national outcomes-based database, female patients who underwent prolapse repair and/or sling procedures across racial/ethnic groups were compared with respect to their 30-day complication rates. The trends were evaluated over time.
Data concerning a total of 70,540 prolapse repairs and 23,968 sling procedures between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2018 were retrieved.
Postoperative complications after prolapse repair procedures, particularly vascular complications, were more frequently recorded among Black women.
For all racial/ethnic groups except Black women, there appeared a decrease in vascular complication rates after prolapse repair over time.
After prolapse repair and slings, vascular complications were recorded more frequently among Hispanic women relative to other racial/ethnic groups.
