Direct repair of the lower trunk to residual nerve roots for restoration of finger flexion after total brachial plexus injury

The Journal of Hand Surgery Dec 17, 2020

Wang SF, Li PC, Xue YH, et al. - Researchers have tried to enhance the quality of restored finger flexion by direct approximation of available (ruptured) ipsilateral root stumps to the lower trunk (LT). This study was intended to confirm these outcomes by applying objective outcome measures. The analysis included a total of 27 cases of total posttraumatic brachial plexus palsies. The neck was explored and ruptured root stumps distinguished, in each case. The results of active finger flexion can be enhanced by direct approximation of the LT to an ipsilateral root stump.
