Direct bilirubin is associated with low-density lipoprotein subfractions and particle size in overweight and centrally obese women
Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases Jun 05, 2018
Kwon YJ, et al. - Researchers investigated if there is a stronger correlation of direct bilirubin with small, dense low-density lipoprotein (sdLDL) vs other bilirubin subtypes. Which LDL subfractions exhibited the highest correlation with direct bilirubin was also determined. Study participants were overweight and centrally obese women, and to assess the associations, multiple linear regression analyses were used. They found that direct bilirubin vs total and indirect bilirubin showed a stronger association with the sdLDL subfraction and was found to be independently related to mean LDL particle size in overweight and centrally obese women.
