Differentiating multifocal choroiditis and punctate inner choroidopathy: A cluster analysis approach
American Journal of Ophthalmology Feb 11, 2020
Gilbert RM, Niederer RL, Kramer M, et al. - Researchers conducted this cross-sectional and longitudinal observational study to generate a robust approach to clinical phenotyping of multifocal choroiditis (MFC) and punctate inner choroidopathy (PIC). The study population included clinical database of 343 eyes of 185 patients (age range was 11 to 89 years) with hospital record diagnoses of MFC or PIC. According to cluster analysis of this large cohort of eyes, peripheral lesions and intra-ocular inflammation as distinct MFC and PIC clinical phenotypes were identified. For the vast majority of eyes, the initial diagnosis remained stable. This methodology might be valuable for future uveitis classification and management.
