Dietary patterns and the risk of pregnancy-associated hypertension in the Danish National Birth Cohort: A prospective longitudinal study
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Mar 14, 2019
Ikem E, et al. - Via this prospective longitudinal cohort study of 55,139 Danish women, researchers examined whether mid-pregnancy dietary patterns are associated with pregnancy-associated hypertension (PAH). They assessed diet using a validated semi-quantitative 360-item food frequency questionnaire and derived dietary patterns using factor analysis. As per findings, there appeared protective associations of seafood diet and harmful associations of Western diet with PAH. This suggests a likelihood of achieving a decrease of PAH with dietary interventions encouraging the reduction of the Western diet.
