Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases May 27, 2021
Lin M, Shivappa N, Hébert JR, et al. - Researchers undertook this observational cross-sectional study to examine the link of the inflammatory potential of diet with peripheral arterial stiffness as well as kidney function among females experiencing diabetes and prediabetes. This analysis involved 2,644 women aged 45–75 years. Using a validated China National Nutrition and Health Survey 2002 food-frequency questionnaire, assessment of dietary intake in the past 12 months was carried out. Using daily dietary information, energy-adjusted dietary inflammatory index (E-DII) scores were computed. Findings revealed a direct link between E-DII and arterial stiffness, reduced eGFR among middle-aged and elderly females with diabetes or prediabetes.
