Diagnostic utility of a Likert scale vs qualitative descriptors and length of capsular contact for determining extraprostatic tumor extension at multiparametric prostate MRI
American Journal of Roentgenology Mar 15, 2018
Costa DN, et al. - The reproducibility and diagnostic performance of a Likert scale were examined in comparison with the European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR) criteria and tumor-pseudocapsule contact length (TCL) for the detection of extraprostatic extension (EPE) in patients with prostate cancer based on multiparametric MRI. The data exhibited that a Likert score conveying the degree of suspicion on multiparametric MRI presented as a stronger predictor of EPE compared to the ESUR score or TCL. Additionally, it could facilitate informed decision making, patient counselling, and treatment planning.
