Diabetes distress is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes in women with gestational diabetes: A prospective cohort study
BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth Jul 09, 2019
Schmidt CB, et al. - Researchers investigated the prevalence of diabetes distress in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and determined how it is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes. In this prospective cohort study that was performed at an Amsterdam based teaching hospital with an ethnic diverse population, questionnaires consisting of Problem Areas in Diabetes Scale 5 for diabetes distress, Patient Health Questionnaire 9 for depressive symptoms, and questions to assess adverse pregnancy outcomes were administered to a total of 100 women at three time points. Outcomes suggest the likelihood for diabetes distress in women with GDM. Both diabetes distress and parity were noted to be correlated with adverse pregnancy outcomes in women with GDM.
