Depressive symptoms in dialysis: Prevalence and relationship with uremia-related biochemical parameters
Blood Purification Jul 30, 2018
Cirillo L, et al. - Researchers used a validated and easy-to-implement screening tool to assess the prevalence of depression in haemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) population. They also examined the link between depression and the main uremia-related clinical and biochemical parameter changes. They observed an influence of depressive symptoms on almost half of dialysis patients, particularly so the HD cohort, when a reliable, simple and fast tool was used. The impact of depression on compliance to therapy possibly accounted for the seeming relation of severity of depressive symptoms to serum levels of phosphorus.
