Kusztal M, et al. - The impact of symptoms of depression/anxiety, chronic pain, and quality of life (QoL) on 6-year survival of patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis was determined. Despite a common occurrence, chronic pain did not lower survival among these patients. Depressive symptoms were observed to be an important predictor for all-cause mortality, and the relationship was independent of nutritional or inflammatory status.
