Decreased expression of microRNA-26b in locally advanced and inflammatory breast cancer

Human Pathology Apr 27, 2018

Ding Q, et al. - The goal of researchers was to investigate microRNAs that were regulated in advanced-stage breast cancer patients in order to comprehend the underlying molecular mechanisms and to identify new biomarkers for treatment in this subgroup of patients. Obtained data exhibited an inverse link between the expression of miRNA-26b with EZH2 protein expression in several breast cancer cell lines. It was observed that overexpression and knockdown of miR-26b caused corresponding changes in EZH2 expression. Findings unveiled that miR-26b possibly regulated the EZH2 expression in breast cancer. It could prove to be beneficial as a therapeutic target for inflammatory breast cancer and noninflammatory locally advanced breast cancer.
