Cytomegalovirus anterior uveitis: Clinical characteristics and long-term outcomes in a French series
American Journal of Ophthalmology Aug 01, 2018
Touhami S, et al. - Authors reported the characteristics of cytomegalovirus anterior uveitis (CMV AU) and the comparative response to two types of antiviral induction treatments. Seemingly, specificities were demonstrated by the characteristics of CMV AU in this French cohort. The severity of glaucoma was seen to reduce with early initiation of antiviral therapy. A total of 73.5% of cases reported the recurrence, in 25.7% of cases, glaucoma surgery was necessary. The recourse was decreased to glaucoma surgery with early initiation of antiviral therapy (≤700 days). Findings suggested a similarity of both IV and oral induction treatments in terms of best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) changes and the occurrence of relapses.
