Cystic fibrosis epithelial cells are primed for apoptosis as a result of increased Fas (CD95)

Journal of Cystic Fibrosis Mar 03, 2018

Chen Q, et al. - This investigation was pursued to determine the link between dysfunctional cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) and apoptosis in cystic fibrosis (CF) airway epithelial cells. As per findings, more sensitivity of CF airway epithelial cells to apoptosis was apparent via increased levels of Fas and subsequent activation of the Fas death receptor pathway, which could be related to dysfunctional CFTR.
