Cystatin C as a predictor of cardiovascular outcomes in a hypertensive population
Journal of Human Hypertension Sep 29, 2017
Garcia-Carretero R, et al. - This study appraised serum cystatin C-estimated glomerular filtration rate (GFR) versus creatinine-based estimated GFR (eGFR) as predictors of incident cardiovascular disease among hypertensive patients. Findings indicated that predictive ability of both cystatin C-based eGFRs may be stronger than creatinine-based eGFR for the prediction of all-cause mortality and cardiovascular events in this patient population. Additionally, data suggested that both cystatin C-based eGFRs may improve the risk assessment in certain populations.
