Correlations between ocular biometrics and refractive error: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Acta Ophthalmologica Aug 14, 2019
Gaurisanka ZS, van Rijn GA, Lima JEE, et al. - Because understanding associations between different biometric parameters in the field of cataract and refractive surgery are essential for personalized eye care, researchers analyzed the previous literature evaluating these relationships, including a meta-analysis. They concentrated on the following five links: axial length and refractive error; anterior chamber depth and refractive error; axial length and anterior chamber depth; corneal power and refractive error; corneal power and axial length. According to this systematic review and meta-analysis, a powerful correlation was discovered to be expected between axial length and refractive error. Associations have been weak, including corneal power, and can be clinically insignificant.
