Correlates of long-acting reversible contraception vs sterilization use in advanced maternal age
Annals of Epidemiology Mar 23, 2018
Apodaca SN, et al. - The correlates associated with choosing long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) over female sterilization (FS) were identified by examining data from women aged 35 to 44 years from the 2011-2013 National Survey of Family Growth Female (NSFG) Respondent File. In the past twelve months, contraceptive counseling was not received by a large proportion of women of advanced maternal age in the United States, as per the findings. Therefore, providing comprehensive contraceptive and sterilization counseling to women 35-44 years old, especially those using unreliable, reversible contraception, should be the focus of the providers.
