Corneal features in ocular graft-versus-host disease by in vivo confocal microscopy
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Sep 08, 2017
Tepelus TC, et al. - In this study, researchers ascertain the morphological features of the corneal epithelial layers, sub-basal nerve plexus and anterior stroma in patients with ocular graft-versus-host disease (oGVHD) compared to non-GVHD dry eyes and normal controls, utilizing in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM). IVCM uncovered distinct microstructural changes in the corneas of patients with oGVHD and DES, similar between the two groups. These outcomes recommend implications for utilization of IVCM to assess and monitor patients with dry eyes related or not with GVHD.
