Consideration of eyeball length and prismatic side-effects of spectacle lenses in strabismus surgery- A randomised, double-blind interventional study
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Jun 02, 2020
Beisse F, Koch M, Uhlmann L, et al. - In this prospective, randomised, double-blind, interventional pilot study, researchers ascertained if considering eyeball length and prismatic side-effects of spectacle lenses for dosage planning yields better operative outcomes. Participants in the study were 101 patients (51 of which in the intervention group and 50 in the control group). Taking into account prismatic side-effects of spectacle lenses and eye ball length when calculating strabismus surgery doses showed a trend towards more reliable outcomes. Esotropic patients and patients suffering from hyperopia > + 2 D tended to benefit most.
