Complication rate in minimally invasive revision lumbar discectomy: A case series and technical note
Journal of Spinal Disorders & Techniques Jun 07, 2018
Felbaum DR, et al. - Researchers investigated if minimally invasive tubular discectomy (MITD) is an equivalent treatment to traditional approaches and may have better utility for revision surgery via analyzing a retrospective review of MITDs performed by the senior surgeon (F.A.S.) on 42 patients with single-level, recurrent disk herniation. They noted that for revision discectomies MITD can be safely performed with low morbidity. Observations suggest a paramedian approach as beneficial in annihilating the exposure to preexisting scar tissue and that it might confer a significant advantage over the traditional midline approach for treating recurrent disk herniation.
