Comparison of the influence of corneo-scleral and scleral lenses on ocular surface and tear film metrics in a presbyopic population
Contact Lens and Anterior Eye Oct 05, 2017
Lafosse E, et al. - The bi-fold aim of this trial was to gauge and compare the consequence of the corneo-scleral lenses (C-ScL) and scleral lenses (ScL) on tear film parameters and central corneal thickness (CCT) in healthy presbyopic individuals. A lesser reduction in the TMA and a lower induced hypoxic stress was caused by C-ScL than the ScL. Osmolarity levels fell within normal values across the day. There did not appear to be any clinical variation between lenses. Both designs possibly reflected a good optical platform for the correction of presbyopia and the protection of the ocular surface by vaulting the cornea.
