Comparison of point-of-care test and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for detection of IgG antibodies in the diagnosis of human Schistosoma japonica
International Journal of Infectious Diseases Apr 19, 2021
Rodpai R, Sadaow L, Boonroumkaew P, et al. - In this study, an immunochromatographic test (Sj-ICT) was developed that may aid in detecting anti-Schistosoma japonicum IgG antibodies in human sera. Researchers used somatic extract from adult S. japonicum as an antigen. They developed and optimized the Sj-ICT as a point-of-care testing. All 214 human serum samples were subjected to examine its diagnostic utility and compare with an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Findings support the utility of the developed kit for supporting clinical diagnosis as well as for large-scale surveys in endemic areas without necessitating additional facilities or ancillary supplies.
