Comparison of narrowband UV-B with psoralen–UV-A phototherapy for patients with early-stage mycosis fungoides: A systematic review and meta-analysis
JAMA Mar 20, 2019
Phan K, et al. - A sum of 778 candidates were analyzed to assess the effectiveness and adverse consequences of psoralen–UV-A (PUVA) vs narrowband UV-B (NBUVB) in early-stage mycosis fungoides (MF). Researchers observed a complete response in 73.8% of subjects who received PUVA vs 62.2% who received NBUVB whereas comparable partial response (18.0% vs 27.5%). They reported no significant variations between PUVA and NBUVB in terms of adverse effects of erythema, nausea, pruritus, phototoxic effects, dyspepsia, or pain. They overall concluded PUVA a potential option to NBUVB in the management of early-stage MF.
