Comparison of in-hospital outcomes after percutaneous revascularization for peripheral arterial disease in patients with body mass index >30kg/m2 versus ≤30 kg/m2 (from the National Inpatient Sample)
The American Journal of Cardiology Aug 21, 2017
Doshi R, et al. – This study was meant to assess in–hospital outcomes and characteristics in obese patients treated with percutaneous treatment of peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Findings demonstrated nil impact of obesity on in–hospital mortality in patients undergoing peripheral percutaneous revascularization, however, obese patients suffered adverse events more. Furthermore, the increased cost related to hospitalization of obese patients might be attributed to longer length of stay and greater comorbidities.
