Dermatologic Therapy Aug 09, 2019
Serdar ZA, et al. - Researchers conducted this investigation to compare the safety and effectiveness of fractional radiofrequency (RF) and fractional Erbium :YAG (Er:YAG) laser for facial and neck skin wrinkles, objectively. By two blinded dermatologists, 333 patients treated with fractional RF and fractional Er:YAG laser were assessed. For the periorbital area, fractional Er:YAG laser was more effective. On the other hand, for perioral, nasolabial and jawline areas, fractional RF treatment was more effective. Between two treatment groups, there was no statistically significant difference in side effects. Findings suggested that both modalities significantly improve skin wrinkles, but the regional differences between their treatment outcomes should be considered.
