Comparing the uterine microbiome in recurrent pregnancy loss to parous fertile controls

Vaughn SJ, et al. - In this prospective case-control study, the microbiome in the endometrial fluid (EF) of subjects with recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) was compared to that of fertile parous controls during the window of implantation in a natural cycle. Researchers studied 20 recurrent pregnancy loss subjects and 10 fertile parous controls identifying a greater amount and diversity of bacteria but less lactobacilli in the endometrial microbiome in RPL compared to parous fertile controls. As per this preliminary data, RPL cases display a dysbiosis.
