Hochman MJ, et al. - Physicians designed this study to compare unmet symptom needs in a cohort of hematologic and solid tumor patients referred to specialty palliative care services. At the time of referral to palliative care services, hematologic and solid tumor patients both had significant symptom burden. Blood cancer patients could have unique concerns warranting targeted attention, including substantial drowsiness and tiredness. The findings implied a need to optimize palliative care usage in the hematologic cancer population.
