Valmaggia C, Kostadinov F, Lang C, et al. - Researchers conducted this retrospective study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of 23-gauge pars plana vitrectomy combined with phacoemulsification vs vitrectomy alone in patients over 50 years with primary full-thickness macular holes (FTMH). In total, 406 eyes were involved in the study. When compared to vitrectomy alone, combined 23-gauge pars plana vitrectomy with phacoemulsification for primary FTMH repair in patients over 50 years is as effective and safe.
