Dietrich-Muszalska A, et al. - This study was performed to compare the effects of aripiprazole and selected antipsychotic drugs on lipid peroxidation in plasma. For the treatment of acute episode in schizophrenia, antipsychotics at doses recommended could induce the distinct changes in plasma lipid peroxidation. In plasma lipid peroxidation, aripiprazole did not induce significant changes. Further studies were recommended to investigate the role of oxidative stress in schizophrenic patients together with their clinical symptomatology and use of antipsychotics.
