Comparative analysis of the microstructures and mechanical properties of Co-Cr dental alloys fabricated by different methods

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry Apr 11, 2018

Zhou Y, et al. - Researchers evaluated the mechanical properties and microstructures of Co-Cr dental alloys fabricated using conventional casting (CAST), computer numerical control (CNC) milling, and selective laser melting and to assess the potential of applying the selective laser melting (SLM) technique in prosthetic dentistry. They noted a dependance of microstructures and mechanical properties of Co-Cr dental alloys on the fabrication techniques. Compared to those fabricated with CNC or CAST, the SLM specimens exhibited better microstructures and mechanical properties.
