Comparative analysis of safety and efficacy of photorefractive keratectomy vs photorefractive keratectomy combined with crosslinking
Clinical Ophthalmology May 07, 2018
Sachdev GS, et al. - Researchers ascertained the safety, efficacy, and refractive predictability of half-fluence accelerated corneal collagen crosslinking (CXL) applied concurrently with photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and compared the results to standard PRK. They included the patients seeking refractive correction for myopia or myopic astigmatism in the study. Comparable safety, efficacy, and stability to PRK in eyes with thinner pachymetry and tomographic abnormalities was demonstrated by PRK Xtra. Findings suggested that in suspicious tomographies combining crosslinking with PRK augurs for safe and predictable outcomes.
