Comorbidity of vitamin A and vitamin D deficiency exacerbates the severity of atopic dermatitis in children
Dermatology Apr 13, 2019
Xiang J, et al. - Investigators examined data to estimate the relationship between atopic dermatitis (AD) and vitamin A (VA) and vitamin D (VD). Significantly lower levels of VD and VA were recorded in kids with AD as compared to normal children. A negative association was reported between both VD and VA levels and SCORing Atopic Dermatitis (SCORAD) scores. Significantly higher SCORAD scores were noted in AD cases with both VDD and VAD (co-deficiency). They also recorded significant inverse relationships between peripheral blood eosinophil counts and serum VA and VD levels.
