International Journal of COPD Jul 11, 2018
Heikkila JM, et al. - Researchers surveyed Finnish community pharmacists to assess their knowledge concerning COPD and regular practices and perceptions concerning medication counseling of COPD patients. They found that pharmacists’ knowledge of COPD was good on general topics but with regards to the current care guideline and status of the disease, there were some gaps in their knowledge. They recommended pharmacists to more systematically individually target medication counseling according to patients’ needs. Also, they recommended implementation of lifestyle treatments, including smoking cessation and physical exercise, as a component of the medication counseling.
