Closed incision negative pressure therapy in morbidly obese women undergoing cesarean delivery: A randomized controlled trial
Obstetrics and Gynecology Oct 04, 2019
Hussamy DJ, et al. - Researchers examined whether incisional negative pressure wound therapy effectively prevents postoperative wound morbidity in women with class III obesity undergoing cesarean delivery. In this open-label randomized controlled trial, 677 women with class III obesity were enrolled. Of these, 441 underwent cesarean delivery and were randomized subsequently to either standard dressing or incisional negative pressure wound therapy. Overall composite wound morbidity rate was 18% among these women. Observations revealed no reduction in postoperative wound morbidity in correlation with prophylactic incisional negative pressure wound therapy when compared with a standard surgical dressing in women with class III obesity.
