Clinical profile and outcome of pigment-induced nephropathy
Clinical Kidney Journal Nov 09, 2017
Sakthirajan R, et al. - A retrospective observational study was performed to analyze the etiology, clinical manifestation, laboratory profile and outcome in patients with biopsy-proven pigment-induced nephropathy. Researchers identified pigment nephropathy due to rhabdomyolysis and hemolysis as an important cause of renal failure requiring hemodialysis (HD). The prognosis was relatively good and depended on the etiology. However, they identified the necessity for long-term studies and follow-up to assess the true incidence of chronic kidney disease due to pigment nephropathy.
