Clinical outcomes after implantation of a sutureless aortic bioprosthesis with concomitant mitral valve surgery: The SURE-AVR registry
Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery Jun 04, 2021
Baghai M, Glauber M, Fontaine R, et al. - Using SURE-AVR (Sorin Universal REgistry on Aortic Valve Replacement) registry incorporating patients receiving aortic valve replacement, researchers herein analyzed results in high operative risk patients with previous or concomitant valve surgery who were implanted with a sutureless valve. They obtained in-hospital and post-discharge outcomes up to 5 years for 78 patients. Reduction in mean ± standard deviation aortic pressure gradients was evident, from 37.6 ± 17.7 mmHg preoperatively to 13.0 ± 5.7 mmHg at hospital discharge, and peak aortic pressure gradient decreased from 61.5 ± 28.7 to 23.4 ± 10.6 mmHg. Deaths of 12 patients (6 cardiovascular and 6 non-cardiovascular, both 2.1% per patient-year) was reported during a median follow-up of 55.5 months. A 5-year survival of 81.3% was obtained. Findings demonstrated the technical feasibility of sutureless implant procedure during mitral surgery as well as its link with good clinical results.
