Clinical findings in triamcinolone-associated maculopathy
Retina Mar 31, 2019
Fine HF, et al. - In this retrospective, interventional, noncomparative, single-center case series, 18 eyes were examined to elaborate the crystalline retinopathy recognized in subjects greater than 1 year after intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide (IVTA). They found the crystals refractile and not visible on fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography. The crystals displayed slow dissolution and movement and were occasionally distributed in a circular fashion. They confirmed the preretinal and/or subhyaloid location of crystals with optical coherence tomography. They suggested the persistence of macular crystals for years after IVTA.
