Clinical evaluation of human papillomavirus screening with p16/Ki-67 dual stain triage in a large organized cervical cancer screening program
JAMA Jul 09, 2019
Wentzensen N, et al. - Researchers sought for efficient approaches for triage of human papillomavirus–positive women in cervical cancer screening via performing this cohort study of 3225 women. Outcomes revealed achievement of better risk stratification with p16/Ki-67 dual stain, alone or in combination with human papillomavirus 16/18 genotyping when compared to comparable cytologic-based strategies. This suggests the possibility of achieving lower referral to undergo colposcopy with similar detection of precancerous lesions with triage of human papillomavirus–positive women with dual stain vs cytologic screening, making cervical cancer screening more efficient.
