Clinical characteristics and treatment of 52 cases of phakomatosis pigmentovascularis
The Journal of Dermatology Aug 10, 2019
Shin H, et al. - Researchers conducted this retrospective study to assess phakomatosis pigmentovascularis, a rare syndrome characterized by widespread capillary malformation and pigmented nevus, features and treatment. Participants in the study were 52 patients presenting between 2003 and 2017. Type IIa (port-wine stain and dermal melanocytosis with oculocutaneous involvement) was most common in this analysis. Treatment outcome score exhibited a significant inverse association with the extent of port-wine stain or pigmented nevus. Pigmented nevus showed a better response to laser treatment compared with capillary malformation. For capillary malformation and pigmented nevus, smaller lesions tended to demonstrate better therapy results.
