Clinical analysis of generalized pustular psoriasis in Chinese patients: A retrospective study of 110 patients
The Journal of Dermatology May 28, 2021
Zheng J, Chen W, Gao Y, et al. - Researchers performed this retrospective analysis to investigate the precipitating factors, clinical manifestations, laboratory data, relapse patterns, and prognosis of generalized pustular psoriasis at the hospital and to improve the diagnosis and treatment. Participants in the study were 110 patients (mean age 46.5 years). The proportion of patients with hyperlipidemia was higher after acitretin treatment than before acitretin treatment during hospitalization. Patients with no previous psoriasis have a younger onset age for generalized pustular psoriasis. Patients with prior psoriasis had a shorter mean time to pustular clearance than those without prior psoriasis. Furthermore, among patients with fever, the biological agent group had the highest rate of skin lesion clearance. However, among patients who did not have a fever, the acitretin group had the highest rate of skin lesion clearance. There were no serious complications or deaths among the patients. The study describes the clinical course of generalized pustular psoriasis in Chinese patients in detail. Such findings will aid in the understanding and treatment of generalized pustular psoriasis.
