Eichhorn T, et al. - This study sought to assess whether high cutoff hemofilters could support the restoration of immune homeostasis in systemic inflammation by depleting inflammatory mediators from the circulation. In this work, continuous veno-venous hemodialysis with high cutoff (CVVHD-HCO) filters achieved enhanced removal of Interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-8 as compared to CVVHD-standard (STD) filters, without differentially reducing plasma cytokine levels.
