Circumferential viscodilation Ab interno combined with phacoemulsification for treatment of open-angle glaucoma: 12-month outcomes
Clinical Ophthalmology May 25, 2020
Tracer N, et al. - A retrospective study was conducted to assess reduction in intraocular pressure (IOP) and medications for open-angle glaucoma (OAG) patients 12 months post-ab-interno circumferential viscodilation in conjunction with cataract surgery. Goldmann applanation tonometry was applied to assess IOP. Researchers recorded medications, the number of medication-free eyes in each group at 12 months, and adverse events. Descriptive statistics and t-tests were applied to assess change from baseline. This study's findings demonstrate that circumferential ab-interno viscodilation can be combined with cataract surgery and give an IOP lowering and medication reduction advantage sustained for at least 12 months, for many patients with OAG.
