Circumferential (360°) trabeculotomy in primary congenital glaucoma: 19–245 months of follow‐up
Acta Ophthalmologica Apr 03, 2021
Tønset TS, Jakobsen JE, Tveit JH, et al. - In this retrospective, single‐institutional case series, researchers assessed the long‐term effectiveness and safety of circumferential trabeculotomy (CT) in the treatment of primary congenital glaucoma (PCG). After informed consent, 29 patients (39 eyes) were included, with a median follow-up time of 120 months (range, 19–245 months). From 1997 to 2016, the overall rate of completing CT in PCG eyes was 42/65 eyes (65%). In the long run, circumferential trabeculotomy is an effective, safe, and medication-saving surgical treatment for PCG. The morphological status of the optic nerve was either normalized or stabilized after a median follow‐up of 10 years (120 months), and visual acuity was generally well preserved.
