Chronic kidney disease measures and the risk of abdominal aortic aneurysm

Matsushita K, et al. - Given the strong link that exists between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular outcomes, researchers investigated the association of CKD with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Findings revealed a positive correlation between chronic kidney disease and incident clinical abdominal aortic aneurysm, and both kidney function and damage displayed independent associations. Greater incidence of AAA and greater abdominal aortic diameter were linked with reduced eGFR and elevated albuminuria.
