Choroidal neovascularization secondary to photodynamic therapy for central serous chorioretinopathy: Incidence, risk factors, and clinical outcomes
Retina Aug 01, 2021
Hwang S, Noh H, Kang SW, et al. - In this retrospective consecutive interventional study, researchers sought to examine the incidence, risk factors, and clinical outcomes of complicated choroidal neovascularization (CNV) after reduced-fluence photodynamic therapy (PDT) for central serous chorioretinopathy. Participants in the study were 520 patients (559 eyes) treated by reduced-fluence PDT for central serous chorioretinopathy. Reduced-fluence PDT for central serous chorioretinopathy may be complicated by CNV in approximately 1% of cases, which can be well controlled with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injection. Secondary CNV after PDT is increased by flat irregular pigment epithelial detachment.
