Childhood maltreatment and treatment outcome in psychotic disorders: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica Sep 10, 2019
Thomas S, et al. - Via performing a systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers examined how childhood maltreatment (CM) is associated with treatment outcome in psychotic disorders. They performed an inclusion of 12 treatment results from seven studies (636 patients, average treatment duration: 59.2 weeks) in this work. The analysis revealed this topic is highly understudied. Evidence gained suggest that patients with CM exhibit poorer treatment response. Findings suggest the possibility of an increase in this association with illness duration and increasing age and that this association might be stronger in schizophrenia samples.
